RadioCOCOA features RichART! in December's 10 must-hear songs

RadioCOCOA, one of the leading voices in Ecuador’s independent music scene, included RichART! in its selection of the 10 December songs worth hearing before closing out 2021.

The list brought together emerging artists from the Ecuadorian independent scene: projects that released new music that year and pushed the local sound forward from different genres. Landing there is no small thing. RadioCOCOA has spent years doing serious curation of what’s happening in the country, and its radar is one of the first validations a project gets when it steps out into the world.

For RichART!, Richard Orellana’s solo project, the mention came at a key moment: the close of a year of work between the studio and his first releases under his own name, after a decade as a saxophonist and music producer for other artists.

The December selection worked as a snapshot of the scene at that moment — who was making noise, from where, and with what to say. That RichART! was part of that picture confirmed something the project had been building song by song: a place of its own within Ecuadorian independent music.
